Professor Elisabeth Smela, Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering, has been named received a Presidential Early Career Award (PECASE), the highest honor for a young faculty member. She is a key member of the Maryland MEMS and nano community and has been a major driving force and contributor to the development of the FabLab.
