Each year the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland celebrates exceptional undergraduate scholars through its Engineering Honors and Awards, which recognize students for their academics, leadership, and service.
This year, the Clark School honors 70 undergraduates who exemplify the college’s commitment to excellence; five are recognized with Dean’s Awards.
"Clark School students are innovators and problem-solvers. The work they engineer—from rockets and medical devices to smart, sustainable, and equitable systems—improves people's lives,” said Robert Briber, interim dean of the Clark School. “We’re incredibly proud of these future leaders. We’ll be watching their careers and look forward to their amazing work. I also want to acknowledge Isabella Kolar for winning our advising award: Our staff are critical in making the Clark School a great place for our students to learn and grow as engineers."
Dinah Berman Memorial Award: presented to a third-year engineering student who has combined academic and scholastic excellence with demonstrated leadership or service to the Clark School.
Adithya Arun Junior, aerospace engineering and computer science
Adithya is a member of the Aerospace Engineering Honors Program and was in the First-Year Innovation & Research Experience (FIRE) Autonomous Unmanned Systems Stream in past semesters. He is a research assistant in the Space Systems Lab and the Space Power and Propulsion Lab. As co-founder of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS@UMD), he led the creation of UMD’s first student-designed CubeSat with a research payload. Adithya will be interning at Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems this summer and is excited to work as a resident assistant next fall.
