The University of Maryland will host the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Region II Leadership Conference on August 23 - 25, 2013.

The theme for this year's conference is "Strategic Leadership: Inspiring a Unified Vision." During the three-day conference, more than 100 NSBE chapter and regional leaders will attend workshops and receive specialized training on topics such as communication, branding, member retention and engagement, and financial management. The overall goal of the conference is to work together to strengthen leadership skills and brainstorm ideas to help further NSBE's mission "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community."

NSBE Region II is currently led by Vernon Cutting, a Clark School mechanical engineering student.

Conference activities will take place in Glenn L. Martin Hall, the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building, and the J.M. Patterson Building on campus.
