|
Bioengineering professor and NanoCenter member John P. Fisher has been awarded a grant from the Maryland Stem Cell Commission to further his research on cranial bone regeneration. Fisher was the only recipient from UMCP out of more than 80 total applicants.
Fisher will be working with adult stem cells as a way of improving regrowth of facial bones, particularly around the eye socket. He has been sharing his research findings with the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Patients suffering from facial trauma could benefit from Dr. Fisher's studies with stem cells.
