Congressman Hoyer's office has announced $1.5M funding for a Center for Nanoparticle Risk, Impact, and Assessment at UMD. The Center will develop new approaches to understand how the unique properties of nanoscale structures influence health and environment. Such advances are needed urgently to realize nanotechnology's promise and to assure that adoption of nanotechnology is done safely and benignly.
