This was a touching tribute. I never worked with Grant, but I have interacted with a lot of his former students. They have all been great. Grant was quite the talent scout, among other things.

I heard a lot of new stories. There’s the drive-by comment by Grant in front of one of your early SPIE posters “I told Andy [Neureuther] he should have ported SAMPLE to the PC”.

I also chuckled at the one about the “leak” at the lab:

Police Officer arriving on the scene: “who is charge here?”
Grant: “of what, the flood?”
