NanoCenter Associate Director Michael Fuhrer has been recognized for his research in graphene, a possible replacement for silicon and other conventional semiconductors. Graphene is seen as a promising new material for conducting electricity. While copper is the material currently known as offering the least resistivity at room temperature, graphene's resistence is about 35 percent lower than copper.
