Notes
- Tap the Q icon to access the Q Menu.
- To remove the Q icon from your taskbar, tap Q > Exit.

- Select the items you want to appear on the Q Menu, then tap OK.

Switch or exit programs
- To switch among running tasks, tap Q, then tap the name of the task you wish to go.
- To close the program that is currently active, tap Q > Close active task.
- To close all the open programs on your device, tap Q > Close all tasks.
Note Make sure all files are closed before resetting your device.

Enable Auto Run
The Auto Run feature allows specialized programs stored on a CompactFlash card to begin running automatically as soon as the card is inserted.
- To enable Auto Run, tap Q > QUtilities > Auto Run tab > Enable, then tap OK.
- To disable Auto Run, tap Q > QUtilities > Auto Run tab, > Disable, then tap OK.
- To restart a specialized program stored on a CF card, tap the Restart button.

Check battery power
- Tap Q > Power > Battery tab.
Note The Battery tab provides general information on the status of your main and backup batteries. The amount of useful operation time varies depending on how you use your device.

- Tap Q > Power > Power Off tab.
- Select desired options for suspending operation when not in use, then tap OK.
Tip Using auto-suspend will help conserve batteries.

Use the system diagnostics tool
The Diagnostics utility activates a debugging and system diagnostic tool. Use this tool to verify any problems that you may have experienced on your device.
- Before running the diagnostics tool, close all open programs, by tapping Q > Close all tasks.
- If you have enabled password protection at power-on, disable this by tapping Start > Settings > Password. Enter your password, then deselect the Enable password check box. Tap OK.
- If you have enabled display owner identification at power-on, disable this by tapping Start > Settings > Owner. Deselect the Display owner identification check box. Tap OK.
- Tap Q > QUtilities > Diagnostics tab.
- Tap the check boxes to select the items you wish to test, then tap Next.
- Tap Start. The device will reset (unless you have disabled this option), and the test will start automatically. Follow the instructions to complete the test.
- Reset your password and owner identification settings.
Notes
- At the end of the test you can choose to save the results as a log file. This is stored in My Documents on your device.
- To read the diagnostics log file, connect your device to your PC, then use ActiveSync to copy it to your PC. Open the file in Notepad.

Enable game keys
The Game Keys feature switches the four quick launch application buttons to directional controls, letting you move up, down, left, and right within a game.
- To enable the game keys, tap Q > QUtilities > Game Keys tab > Enable, then tap OK.
- When the game keys are enabled, an arrow icon appears on the taskbar. To disable the game keys, tap the arrow icon > Disable.

Back up data to a CF card
- Insert a CompactFlash storage card into the card slot.
- Close all active programs by tapping Q > Close all tasks.
- Tap Q > QUtilities > CF Backup tab.
- Tap Backup.
- Tap the Start button. A status bar reports the data activity until the function is complete.
Note Do not use the device or remove the CompactFlash card while CF Backup/Restore is running.

Restore data from a CF card
- Insert the CompactFlash storage card into the card slot.
- Close all active programs by tapping Q > Close all tasks.
- Tap Q > QUtilities > CF Backup tab.
- Tap Restore.
- Tap the Start button. A status bar reports the data activity until the function is complete.
- When the restore process is complete, press the reset button to restart your device.
Note Do not use the device or remove the CompactFlash card while CF Backup/Restore is running.

Adjust the backlight brightness
- Tap Q > Backlight.
- Tap High to set the backlight brightness to high.
- Tap Low to set the backlight brightness to low.
- Tap Off to turn off the backlight.
- Tap Disable to turn off the backlight and remove the light bulb icon from the taskbar.
- Tap Properties to adjust the backlight timeout. Use the drop-down menus to set the amount of the device should be idle before the backlight is turned off, then tap OK.
Note You can also use the light bulb icon on the taskbar to turn the backlight off or adjust its brightness level.

Organize and navigate files
File Explorer lets you navigate among and manage the files stored on your device.
- Tap Q > QUtilities > File Explorer tab.
- Double-tap a file's name to open that file.
- Use the File and Edit menus to organize the folders and files on your device.
- To make either half of the screen larger, use your stylus to tap and drag the divider up or down.
- To change the appearance of the lists, use the options provided in the View menu.

Browse and connect to shared network resources

Browse and connect to shared network resources
File Explorer allows you to browse shared network resources and connect to those resources provided you have the rights to do so.
Requirements
- You must have established a network connection by either dial-up or LAN card. You must have pre-configured RAS on the desktop to allow RAS clients to access the entire network. See ActiveSync Help on your desktop computer.
Browsing the Network
- Use Network Neighborhood in the top pane.
Map Network Connection
- Tap Tools > Map Network Connection.
- The mapped connections are visible under Remote Folders in the top pane.
Mapped network connections are restored the next time a new network connection is made when File Explorer is running.
